My dad spent his career at one of the chemical plants on the river. I grew up going out there with him, looking at what they were building, and construction got into my head early.
I graduated from LSU in accounting in 1992 and worked at a regional CPA firm here in Baton Rouge that did a lot of construction work. Eventually, I went to work as a controller and then a CFO for a contractor, and after going through a new system implementation there, I really got interested in executing this type of work.
After half a decade, I opened up a firm, and Converge grew out of that. We're a small team, and we focus on one thing: helping construction contractors run their finances and operations on Viewpoint Vista.
At Converge, we offer Vista consulting, implementation, financial reporting, and the back-office work underneath it, from job cost to payroll to work in process. We've been a Viewpoint partner since 2015 and a Prophix partner since 2019.
In more than 30 years around construction finance, the biggest thing I've learned is that the time to catch a problem on a construction project is at 4 or 8 percent complete. Most of our work is helping contractors see where they stand early enough to do something about it.
